One person is chosen to be on or Mother.
The rest of you must stand in a line facing them a short distance away. The aim of the game is for you to cross the space and touch Mother. But you can only move one at atime following the instructions given by Mother.

Mother will give an instruction to each person in turn such as "Grace, take one giant and three baby steps."
Grace must say "May I?"
And then take her steps as told.

If you forget to say "May I?" or don’t do the steps correctly you have to go back to the start.

The first one to reach Mother becomes the next Mother.

There are lots of different steps you can ask people to do which have special names – some of theses are
Baby – a small heel to toe step (also called fairy steps)
Bunny Rabbit – a hop with both feet together
Giant – as large a step as you can manage
Policeman’s Walk – Walk slowly forward with your arms out and your eyes closed until told to Stop!
Wheelbarrow – one person holds your legs up and stilland you reach as far forward as you can on your hands. Move to where you reach with your hands.
