Privacy policy
British Council is working in partnership with Learnthings Ltd and Culture Online ("PlaygroundFun.org.uk") to run a worldwide play promotion.
All three parties will have access to the games submitted and will be bound by Playground Fun's terms and conditions
Information collected
(a) It is necessary for Playgroundfun.org.uk to collect
your personal information for the purposes of registering you as a user of the
website message board on playgroundfun.org.uk (the “Site”) and for verifying
content submitted to the site. Your responses also help us to provide as
complete a service as possible for you by ensuring that the Site reflects your
needs and requirements.
(b) Playgroundfun.org.uk uses Webtrends to collect data listing which of its
pages are most frequently visited and by which type of users.
Playgroundfun.org.uk will only share aggregate statistics about traffic
patterns with Culture Online, but these statistics will not include any
personally identifiable information.
(c) All content submitted to Playgroundfun.org.uk is moderated before being
displayed on the site.
2) Data protection and disclosure
(a) Playgroundfun.org.uk maintains registrations and takes all reasonable
endeavours to comply with all requirements of the UK Data Protection Act 1998
and any regulation created under it.
(b) Playgroundfun.org.uk will not disclose any of your personally identifiable
information except with your permission or under special circumstances such as
when it believes in good faith that the law requires disclosure or when we
engage third parties to process data on our behalf.
3) Cookies
In addition to the information which you supply when you register with us,
information and data may be automatically collected through the use of cookies.
Cookies are small text files a website can use to recognise repeat users and
allow Playgroundfun.org.uk to observe behaviour and compile aggregate data in
order to improve the Site. Cookies make it possible for Playgroundfun.org.uk to
identify registered users without needing to ask for registration details every
time you access the Site. Using cookies also means that accessing the Site is
more convenient for you as you do not need to remember your username and
password each time you enter the Site.
In the case where each user has their own computer log-in, the user will need
to enable their cookies to allow auto-login to the Site without needing to
provide registration details every time they access the Site.
4) Playground fun’s security policy
(a) No data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information,
playgroundfun.org.uk cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information
you transmit to Playgroundfun.org.uk and you do so at your own risk.
(b) Following transmission, Playgroundfun.org.uk will make best efforts to
ensure the security of the information on its systems.
Our principles
We are absolutely committed to protecting your privacy. Our policy can be
summarised in one sentence: we will not share your information with others
without your prior consent. We have also established the following three
principles:
1) We will respect your email privacy, and will send you unsolicited mail from
Playgroundfun.org.uk only if you have agreed to this.
2) We will not pass on any individual user details (including your email
address) unless we have your prior consent.
3) Otherwise, we will only share aggregate statistics about our users, sales
and traffic patterns with Culture Online.
What information do we collect?
We collect some basic information from all of our users if they submit material
to the site. This may include your name, age and the region you are from. We
collect data listing which of our pages are most frequently visited and by
which types of users. We will only contact you by email if you have emailed us
via
administrator@playgroundfun.org.uk first.
